Thai Kra Praw Kai with holy basil, chilli and garlic served with chicken and a crispy fried egg is another popular Thai street food dish that we often automatically order this dish without thinking! It’s quick, tasty, spicy and delicious. Perfect with Thai chilli dipping sauce called Nam Pla Plick.

Kra Pow Kai


  • 200 g chicken breast, cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 tbsp vegetable cooking oil
  • 2 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 onion, thin sliced
  • 2-3 bird eye chilli (or any preferred chilli)
  • A handful green bean, cut about 2-3 cm long
  • A handful of holly basil or Thai basil is ok to use too
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1-2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • A splash of water
